When it comes to slots, we all want to hit a large jackpot. For some, though, the desire has come true, as they have won millions of dollars from a single spin of the reels.

The majority of these large winners hit it big in the world’s gambling center Las Vegas.

Continue reading to learn about some of the biggest slot machine jackpots ever, as well as who the lucky winners were.

1. Rampart Casino, Las Vegas – £10.38 million

First up, we have the tenth highest slot machine win of all time, which was won by a player in December 2013 at the Rampart Casino in Las Vegas.

They just played $20 on the Megabucks slot machine (which appears on 80% of this list!) before winning a $14.3 million jackpot.

The winner chose anonymity and donated a large portion of their award to charity.

2. M Resort, Henderson, £12.6million

The $17.3 million won by a woman from Las Vegas is the next item on our list of the largest slot machine wins ever.

She went to the M Resort in Henderson and after utilising the James Bond roulette strategy on the roulette tables, she used part of her free credits to play the Megabucks machine, winning a massive pay-out.

It just goes to show that you should not overlook any free credits you may have!

3. Online – £13.2 million

This online jackpot was won by a very lucky British soldier in 2013. He won a prize of £13.2 million, which at the time was worth around $20.8 million.

The prize was won at Betway while playing the Mega Moolah game. Jon Hayward, a player from Crewe, just invested 25p to win the huge sum. Wow!

4. Cannery Casino & Hotel, Las Vegas – £15.3million

This is, without a doubt, the most incredible entry on the list.

Elmer Sherwin won £15,3 million playing the Megabucks slot machine at the Cannery Casino & Hotel in 2005.

What’s more amazing? He had previously won the jackpot on the machine, winning $4.6 million in 1989 while playing at the Mirage Hotel & Casino.

5. Caesars Palace, Las Vegas – £15.5 million

We’re now on our way to Caesars Palace, arguably the most famous casino in the world.

This is where a business consultant won a massive jackpot in 1999 after wagering just $10 on – you guessed it – the Megabucks slot machine.

The 49-year-old Illinois resident, who wished to stay anonymous, was awarded a hefty prize of £15.5 million.

6. Bally’s, Las Vegas £16.4million

Johanna Heundl won the next big prize on our list when she played the Megabucks machine at the famed Bally’s in May 2002.

At the time of the triumph, Heundl was 74 years old, and she scooped it before breakfast. Before hitting the jackpot, she barely spent £123.4.

7. PAF.com, Online – €17.8 million

Another online slots win, this time in 2013 by a Finnish player playing the Mega Fortune reels, NetEnt’s well-known progressive slot.

Surprisingly, the lucky Finn just had to spend $25 to win their gigantic reward. PAF.com won the €17.8 million prize, which was worth around $23.6 million in 2013.

8. Palace Station Casino, Las Vegas – $27.6 million

A lucky retiree who visited the Palace Station Casino in 1998 is in third place. She intended to spend $100 but ended up spending three times that amount, but it was an excellent investment.

She, too, played the Megabucks machine and was fortunate enough to win a gigantic prize of $27.6 million, just like so many others on this list of the biggest slot machine jackpot winnings!

9. Desert Inn, Las Vegas – $35 million

Cynthia Jay Brennan, who was 37 when she won a jackpot worth just about $35 million in 2000, is in second place. This prize was won once again while playing the popular Megabucks slot.

This time, though, tragedy struck while Brennan was staying at the Desert Inn, which used to be part of Wynn Las Vegas.

She was tragically paralysed after being gravely hurt in a car accident just months later.

10 Excalibur Casino, Las Vegas – $39.7 million

A lucky player from Los Angeles won the world’s greatest slot jackpot at the Excalibur Casino in Las Vegas. They chose to play the famous Megabucks slot machine in 2003, spending only $100 in the hopes of winning big.

The winnings came in the form of a $39.7 million prize, which is still the highest payout in history.

As you can see, you can make a lot of money by playing slot machines. Some players assume that by looking for vulnerable slot machines or paying attention on how to win at slots, they can gain an advantage, but it’s vital to remember that slot machines are completely random, and it all depends on whether Lady Luck is on your side when you play!
